Helauxy Duo MIDI V2
Helauxy Duo Midi V2
Introduction
Welcome to the Helauxy Duo Midi v2 documentation! Below you'll find configuration options & example videos for setting up and getting the most out of your Helauxy Duo Midi v2!
Overview
The Helauxy Duo Midi is an HXStomp-focused pre-programmed MIDI controller to help you get the most out of your HXStomp. v2 is housed in a custom milled black-anodized aluminum enclosure, with a custom Pedalnetics-designed circuit board. It requires a standard pedalboard power supply and only needs 40ma, and MIDI is output via MIDI-standard 3.5mm TRS jack wired to Type A
Configuration
While there is no screen, the Helauxy Duo Midi can be configured via a series of button presses and reading the LED lights. You'll be able to change footswitch modes, enable a double-press mode, as well as change the MIDI output channel if needed.
Factory Settings
By default, the Helauxy Duo Midi comes programmed as follows:
Commands are output on MIDI Channel 1, which is the channel the HXStomp is defaulted to
FS1 banks down, and holding it scrolls down (LED color red)
FS2 banks up, and holding it scrolls up (LED Color Blue)
Double-Press mode is enabled, and pressing both switches at the same time activates the HXStomp's Tuner mode
Reading the bootup lights
On Bootup, the LEDS will flash the following data:
Both switch LED's will run a quick Red Green Blue test, first the FS1 LED, then the FS2 LED. This is key to knowing the orientation your controller is configured for. See the Flip Mode section below if you want to swap the switches/leds). This is also for a functionality test of all colors.
Next, the LEDs will then light up with the mode the controller is currently set to
Next, LED1 will illuminate Red for DoublePress mode being disabled, or Green for Double Pess mode being enabled.
LED2 will quickly follow with it's color of the mode it would activate on double-press if enabled
Next, LED1 will light blue, and LED2 will flash the MIDI channel. Since we're working with limited lights & status display, the light will flash Red for every 5 channels, and Green for every 1 channel, so you'll need to do a bit of math if you need a different MIDI channel set. See the below "Changing the MIDI Channel" section for further details. (For example, 1 red flash and 2 green flashes means channel 7 (5+2). 2 red flashes and 3 green flashes is channel 13 (5+5+3))
Then, it will flash a sequence to identify it's firwmare version. LED1 will light white, and LED2 will flash a sequence of colors:
Red Green Green Green - Firmware 1.3
Changing Configurations
To edit the configuration, you will follow a sequence of holding down one or both buttons until you see the behaviors/mode/colors light up as described in the red-headlined sections below. The buttons are checked after the initial RGB test, so you have a moment after plugging it in to hold the buttons down.
When in Edit mode for any of the following settings, and you are finished, simply wait 10 seconds and the controller will save your settings and reboot itself. Unplugging the device will prevent the save from occurring and revert to your last saved config. Yes, 10 seconds seems like forever, but it's to make sure you have time to think/program it as you wish, and you're not doing this often.
Factory Reset
To perform a Factory Reset:
Hold BOTH footswitches during boot.
After the RedGreenBlue color test of both LEDs...
First you will see both LEDs turn solid Green, this is for another edit mode (Double-press editing). Keep Holding
Next you will see lights flashing Red/Blue alternating, this is for another edit (Flip Orientation). Keep Holding
Continue holding until the LEDS start flashing White and keep holding, and they will eventually turn Solid Red.
Once they turn solid Red, the device will automatically clear it's memory and reboot in 2 seconds.
If you see the flashing lights and panic because you didn't mean to clear/reset, that's fine, just release either switch and the device will self-reboot without wiping settings

Midi Channel
When editing MIDI channels (or during controller boot), the LED flashes specific colors to signify your MIDI Channel. Simply add up the colors to determine the channel you're currently on. The Reds will always come first, followed by the Greens, to hopefully make it easier to count/add them up:
RED = +5
Green = +1
When first entering the edit mode, it will flash your current MIDI channel, and then change to a dim White waiting for further edits. This is a good time to validate what it's currently set to. After every edit, it will flash the new MIDI channel, then return to the dim White setting.
Setting the MIDI Channel
Hold the FS1 footswitch during boot. First you will see the RedGreenBlue test (keep holding), and once you see LED1 turn a Solid Blue color, release footswitch 1.
LED1 will remain blue, while LED2 flashes your current MIDI channel.
Once it has flashed your current MIDI channel, LED1 will turn dim white to signify it's ready to change. After every press, LED1 will change to Blue to show you "I'm showing you the channel" while LED2 flashes the channel. LED1 will then return to a dim white awaiting your next press, or pausing for 10 seconds to save your changes
Press the FS1 footswitch to decrement by one. If you decrement beyond channel 1, it will wrap back around to 16.
Press the FS2 footswitch to increment by one. If you increment beyond channel 16, it will wrap back around to 1.
You cannot hold the buttons, a press must be registered for each change. At most you're only 8 button presses away from where you need by going forward or backwards
Once you are happy with your MIDI channel, simply wait 10 seconds with no button presses and the device will save your config and self-reboot.

Helauxy Duo Midi Function Change
Double Press Mode – Pressing both buttons at the same time
The controller supports a few commands to execute if you press both buttons at the same time. Default configuration is to activate the Tuner, but the double-press functionality can be completely turned off, or changed to either of the following modes:
FS2 LED Color | DoublePress Mode | Notes |
---|---|---|
FS2 LED :: Purple | Bypass/Unbypass | When the Bypass command is sent, the MIDI controller goes into a bypass state, |
FS2 LED :: White | Activates the Tuner | The Tuner must be exited via pressing any On-board HXStomp footswitch |
FS2 LED :: Yellow | Next Footswitch Mode (for built-in Stomp switches) |
|
To set and/or enable/disable Double Press modes:
Hold both footswitches during boot. First you will see the RedGreenBlue test (keep holding), and once you see both LED's turn a Solid Green color, release both footswitches
FS1 and its LED signify the enable/disabled state. Green LED means it's enabled, Red LED means it's disabled. Press FS1 to change between them, If double-press mode is disabled, the MIDI controller will instead send whichever footswitch you barely hit first, since it is no longer expecting double-presses.
FS2 changes what happens when a double-press is activated. See table above for options
Once you are happy with your Double-press mode, simply wait 10 seconds with no button presses and the device will save your config and self-reboot.

Advanced Configuration
Beyond the basic configurations above, there is additional advanced configuration you can control:
Flip Orientation (Changes which FS/LED is 1 and 2)
Flip Mode
At some point you may want to orient the midi controller in a way that you wish the footswitches were flipped, or you want up/down flipped, or wahtever. Well, they can be! The controller has the ability to “Flip” the switches + LEDs.
Hold both footswitches during boot. First you will see the RedGreenBlue test (keep golding), then you will see both lights turn solid green but keep holding
Once a light is flashing alternating Red / Blue, release the footswitches and the controller will flip it's orientation. Remember at boot during the Red Green Blue test, Footswitch 1 will flash first, followed by footswitch 2. You can use this to validate it's in the orientation you want.
